Dreaming & Writing
Your Stories:
A 6 Week Course
on Zoom
Writing your dreams helps you to understand your inner most conflicts and desires. It’s never “just a dream”. Writing your dreams helps you to best navigate your life. From this raw material, you can also create stories to help, inspire and entertain others.
In this class, you’ll learn how to use dreams and shamanic journeys in your writing. This will help you to express stories deep within you—stories you might be haunted by or stories you never knew were within you or stories you seek to enrich or better organize.
You’ll learn how to explore and expand your stories using the shamanic journey. Often, students find healing and deep meaning from this process. This work can also generate unexpected connections between ideas and big leaps of understanding.
The methods you’ll use in class can be applied to all types of writing such as memoirs personal essays flash fiction, fiction, non-fiction, and journaling.
Each week, you will use the class drumming exercises to work on a project, generate new material or do self inquiry.
In a supportive atmosphere, you’ll experience:
1) drum dreaming to feed your writing, and
2) exploration of topics related to your writing, such as: character, conflict, place, time, language, organization, structure, project planning, problem solving, and reader’s emotional journey.
Additionally,
you will have opportunity to:
3) read aloud 5 minutes of your writing (from class exercise or works—in-progress), and
4) give and receive feedback.
Expect to have fun, dig in, and meet yourself on the page in a new exciting way.
